- Tax Free Exchanges - The topics included in this course covers the basics of a tax free exchange of investment property. Topics covered include requirements of a tax free exchange, types of exchanges and the methods for transferring title when an exchange takes place.
- Overview of Real Estate Law - The subject matter of this continuing education course will cover themes such as provisional status, reciprocity agreements, real estate forms, continuing education, prelicensure, and the Iowa Real Esate Commision.
- Contracts and Closing Statements - This course will provide knowledge for preclosing procedures, RESPA, closing staements, prorations, contracts used in real estate, discharge of contracts, federal and local laws and requirements, and pertinent legal information.

These are the current requirements for renewing your Iowa Real Estate Broker license. We will always provide the newest information available and will update the requirements as soon as there are changes.
- To renew your Real Estate Salesperson License in the state of Iowa, you are required to complete 36 hours of continuing education every 3 years.
- For all Broker renewals you are required to complete 8 hours of Law update, 4 hours of ethics, and 24 hours of Commission approved electives.
- Excess continuing education hours may not be carried over to the next renewal cycle. Licensees completing continuing education in Arkansas, Colorado, Georgia, Idaho, Minnesota, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma, Iowa, or Wyoming are required to sign an affidavit verifying continuing education completion.
- Continuing education hours are to be submitted to the Board with renewal forms. Licensees are encouraged to retain a record of continuing education completion.
