This course presents a comprehensive and systematic description of the concepts and principles of operation and application of protection schemes for various power system elements such as feeders, transformers, motors, buses, and generators.
  • Design of Equipment Foundations - Design of equipment foundations requires an understanding of dynamic loads caused by equipment and the behaviour of soils under such loads. Different types of foundations are used to support structures subjected to dynamic loads or vibration producing machines. This course will focus on the analysis and design of these foundations.
  • Mechanical Engineering For Non-Mechanical Engineers - This course will explain the basic concepts that underlie the application of Mechanical Engineering practice, is of benefit to both the individual and the industry in which the individual is employed. The procurement, installation and operation of equipment is often under the control of Engineers and Technicians who, although qualified in their own discipline, may not have received formal Mechanical Engineering training.
    These are the current requirements for renewing your Iowa Engineering license. We will always provide the newest information available and will update the requirements as soon as there are changes.

  • To renew your Engineering License in the state of Iowa, you are required to complete 30 professional development hours every 2 years.
  • A maximum of 15 excess professional development hours may be carried over to the next renewal cycle. All licenses expire biennially on December 31.
  • If license was initially issued in an even-numbered year it will expire in an odd-numbered year. If license was initially issued in an odd-numbered year it will expire in an even-numbered year.
  • Licensees must report the number of professional development hour completed the renewal cycle. Licensees are encouraged to maintain a record of professional development hour’s completed. The Board shall randomly audit for professional development compliance.

  • These courses have not been approved for continuing education. However, the following courses are based on subject matter approved in most states to fulfill continuing education requirements for Iowa Engineering. These courses will be beneficial to your industry.
